Overview:
The QC Specialist works with the job site superintendent and project manager to ensure quality work throughout all phases of construction. This role takes a proactive approach to quality by identifying potential issues before installation, verifying work throughout construction, documenting deficiencies, and confirming that corrective actions are completed. The goal of this position is to reduce rework, improve consistency, protect the project schedule and budget, and deliver a high-quality finished product to the client.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in preconstruction and project startup meetings to establish quality expectations.
  • Establish quality benchmarks and acceptance standards with project teams and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate mock-ups, first-work inspections, testing requirements, and manufacturer inspections when required.
  • Conduct routine jobsite inspections to verify work conforms to plans, specifications, approved submittals, codes, and industry standards.
  • Inspect work before it becomes concealed or covered by subsequent construction.
  • Verify installation methods, materials, dimensions, elevations, finishes, and workmanship.
  • Monitor critical construction activities including structural work, building envelope, roofing, waterproofing, MEP systems, interior finishes, and site work.
  • Verify that required inspections and testing are completed and properly documented.
  • Document deficiencies with photographs, descriptions, responsible parties, and required corrective actions.
  • Work directly with Superintendents and subcontractors to resolve quality issues in the field.
  • Verify that required materials, approved submittals, and site conditions are ready before installation.
  • Maintain accurate QC/QA inspection records and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain photographic documentation of construction quality and completed corrective work.
  • Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and field changes that may affect quality.
  • Track required testing reports, inspection reports, manufacturer certifications, and closeout documentation.

Requirements:
  • 10 years construction experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify construction deficiencies.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, and industry standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings.
  • Strong understanding of construction specifications, submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and contract documents.
  • Ability to professionally address quality concerns while maintaining productive working relationships with field teams and subcontractors.
